The kinds of Laravel applications I work on

Every business needs something slightly different from its application. Here's how that typically breaks down.

SaaS & Subscription Products

Multi-tenant architecture, subscription billing with Laravel Cashier, and role-based access built for startups scaling out of Chennai's tech corridor along OMR.

Retail & eCommerce

Custom storefronts, order management dashboards, and inventory systems for businesses around Anna Nagar and Velachery that outgrew off-the-shelf platforms.

Healthcare & Clinics

Patient record systems with access controls, appointment scheduling, and secure document handling built to match clinic workflows.

Education & Coaching

Custom student portals, fee-tracking modules, and course/content management systems built exactly to how the institution actually operates.

B2B & Manufacturing

Custom quote and order-approval workflows, multi-level user roles, and ERP-style dashboards for businesses around Ambattur and Avadi.

Internal Business Tools

Admin dashboards, reporting panels, and CRM-style internal tools built exactly to the workflow your team actually uses, not a generic template.

Troubleshooting

Why Laravel applications actually break

Most of my work is stepping into an application another developer or agency left half-fixed. These are the four causes I see most often.

1. N+1 queries hiding inside Eloquent relationships

A listing page that looks fine with ten test rows can quietly fire hundreds of extra queries once real data loads, because a relationship is being lazy-loaded inside a loop. I trace these with Laravel's query log and Debugbar directly, and fix them with proper eager loading rather than throwing more server resources at the problem.

2. Queue jobs failing silently

Background jobs — sending emails, generating reports, syncing with a third-party API — can fail and just sit in the failed_jobs table if nobody's watching. I set up proper job monitoring and retry logic, and go through the failed queue directly to fix what's actually breaking rather than guessing.

3. A Composer update breaks compatibility

Running composer update without pinned versions can pull in a breaking change from a third-party package overnight. I lock dependency versions properly and test upgrades in isolation before they touch production, so an update doesn't take your app down without warning.

4. Business logic scattered across controllers

When a previous developer puts all the logic directly in controllers instead of services, actions, or jobs, every new feature request risks breaking something unrelated. I refactor this into proper service classes as I touch each part of the codebase, so the application gets more maintainable over time instead of less.

Laravel Development Services in Chennai

Types of Laravel work I take on

Most projects fall into one of these categories.

Custom Application Builds

Applications built from scratch on Laravel's MVC structure — clean architecture, proper service layers, and no shortcuts that cause problems later.

Admin Panels & Dashboards

Built with Filament or Livewire for a fast, modern admin experience, or fully custom when the workflow doesn't fit a package.

REST API Development

Authenticated APIs with Sanctum or Passport, proper validation and rate limiting, used to power mobile apps and third-party integrations.

AI Feature Integration

OpenAI, Claude, and similar APIs integrated for chatbots, document summarisation, semantic search, and AI-assisted admin workflows.

Payment & Third-Party Integrations

Razorpay, PayU, and Instamojo set up properly, plus ERP, SMS, and WhatsApp API integrations wired into custom controllers and jobs.

Speed & Performance

Fixing N+1 queries, adding proper caching and queues, and database cleanup, not just a config tweak.

Background

A quick summary of how I work

You're hiring one developer, not a layer of account managers.

15+ years in production

I've spent fifteen-plus years working inside real PHP and Laravel deployments. Most bugs that stall a support ticket for days, I can usually spot in minutes because I've seen the pattern before.

No hidden subcontracting

Agencies often sell you a senior consultant and hand the actual coding to a junior. I write every line of your project myself.

₹350/hour, AI-assisted

I use AI tooling for routine boilerplate, testing, and documentation. That keeps billed hours — and your cost — down without cutting corners on the actual engineering.

Direct WhatsApp access

No ticketing system, no waiting on email during an outage. You message me directly and get a developer, not a support queue.

AI & Development Cost

How AI actually changes the cost of Laravel development

Two separate things get lumped together as "AI" — here's the honest breakdown of both.

AI-assisted development (lowers your bill). I use AI coding assistants for the repetitive parts of a Laravel build — CRUD scaffolding, migration files, form request validation, test cases, and documentation. This doesn't replace engineering judgement; it removes the typing time around it. The architecture decisions, business logic, and every line that ships are still reviewed by me. In practice, this cuts the hours I need to bill for routine work by a meaningful margin, and that saving is reflected directly in your quote — not kept as extra profit.

AI as a feature inside your application (a separate cost). If you want an AI chatbot, a document Q&A tool, or an AI-assisted admin workflow built into your Laravel app, that's a distinct scope of work — integrating with OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or a similar API, handling prompt design, rate limiting, and cost controls on the API usage itself. I quote this separately, since the ongoing API usage cost belongs to you directly, not marked up by me.

Where AI still needs a developer. AI code generation tools are good at boilerplate and bad at judging tradeoffs — when to normalise a database, how to structure permissions, what happens when a queue job fails midway. That's still the part of the job that needs 15+ years of pattern recognition, and it's where most of your project hours actually go.

Comparison

Me vs. a typical agency

A straightforward comparison, for what it's worth coming from me.

Factor Typical Agency Working With Me
Who you talk to Account manager, not the developer The developer, directly
Pricing Bundled packages, costs add up later Flat ₹350/hr or a clear fixed quote
AI usage Rarely disclosed, rarely passed on as savings Used openly for boilerplate, savings passed to you
Code consistency Varies as staff rotate on and off the project One person, one consistent codebase
Support 9-to-5 ticket queue Direct WhatsApp, including for urgent issues
Pricing

Sample project costs

AI-assisted tooling cuts down the hours I need to bill for routine work, and that saving passes to you.

Task Typical Agency Time My Time Cost
Bug fix / queue job repair 2 – 4 hours 1 hour ₹350 flat
REST API module 10 – 16 hours 4 – 6 hours ₹1,400 – ₹2,100
AI chatbot / feature integration 14 – 20 hours 6 – 8 hours ₹2,100 – ₹2,800
Full SaaS/application build from scratch 60 – 90 hours 20 – 30 hours ₹7,000 – ₹10,500
Note: These are typical ranges, not quotes. You'll get an exact estimate after a free review of your codebase, hosting environment, and third-party integrations. AI feature integrations also carry a separate, ongoing API usage cost billed directly by the AI provider, not by me.
Getting Started

How the process works

No bureaucracy — just these six steps, in order.

01

Message on WhatsApp

Send details, links, or error logs. You'll get a real technical response, not a sales pitch.

02

Free review

I check your codebase, error logs, and Laravel version to find the actual cause before quoting anything.

03

Fixed estimate

You get a fixed price or a clear hourly estimate before I touch any code.

04

Build the fix

Changes are written as proper isolated services or jobs where possible, so they survive future updates.

05

Test it properly

Forms, API responses, and load under realistic conditions — checked before anything ships.

06

Deploy safely

Changes go live during your lowest-traffic window, with a full backup taken first.

Performance

Speed tuning for Laravel applications

A slow application loses users. Here's what actually moves the needle.

Query optimisation. Reviewing Eloquent relationships for N+1 problems, adding eager loading and missing indexes, and removing unnecessary SELECT * pulls that fetch more data than the page needs.

Queues for heavy work. Moving emails, report generation, and third-party API calls off the request-response cycle and into queued jobs, so the user isn't stuck waiting on something that can happen in the background.

Caching. Using Laravel's cache layer for expensive queries and config, and Redis for session and queue backing on higher-traffic applications.

Database cleanup. Clearing old session and log tables, archiving stale data, and indexing the tables that actually get queried on every page load.

Local to Chennai

A Laravel developer in your timezone — and your city

Being based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu means we work in the same hours. When a queue job stalls during your business hours, you get a reply in minutes — not a response from an outsourced queue the next day.

I work with applications across Anna Nagar, Velachery, Adyar, Guindy, Ambattur, Porur, and OMR, and I'm familiar with the Indian payment gateways and delivery services most Chennai businesses actually integrate with.

I'm also available across Tambaram, Avadi, Chromepet, Perambur, KK Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Sholinganallur, and Medavakkam — and remotely for businesses in the Middle East, Europe, and the US, entirely over WhatsApp and email.

Common Questions

Hiring a Laravel developer in Chennai — FAQ

Straight answers on cost, AI usage, and timelines.

How much does it cost to hire a Laravel developer in Chennai?
I charge a flat ₹350/hour, billed on AI-assisted hours, with a clear breakdown before work begins. For well-defined scopes, like a REST API build or a payment gateway integration, I can also quote a fixed price so there's no surprise later.
What is the difference between Laravel development and hiring a Laravel developer?
They describe the same work from two angles. "Laravel development" refers to the service — building, extending, or maintaining a Laravel application. "Hiring a Laravel developer" refers to the person doing that work. On this page I offer both: direct development services and direct access to me as the developer, without an agency layer in between.
How do you use AI tools in Laravel development, and does it actually lower cost?
Yes, genuinely. I use AI coding assistants for boilerplate — CRUD scaffolding, migrations, test cases, and documentation — which cuts the hours I need to bill for routine work. The architecture, business logic, and code review are still done by me; AI speeds up typing, not judgement. That saved time is passed on as a lower total bill, not kept as extra margin.
Can you integrate AI features like chatbots or an OpenAI-powered assistant into my Laravel app?
Yes. I build integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and similar APIs directly into Laravel applications — for support chatbots, document summarisation, semantic search over your own data, and AI-assisted admin workflows, with proper rate limiting and cost controls on the API usage itself.
Can you fix a slow or broken Laravel application that another developer or agency built?
Yes — this is one of the most common requests I get. I debug failing queue jobs, N+1 query problems, broken migrations, and dependency conflicts after a Composer update. I start with a free review of your error logs and codebase before quoting anything.
Which Laravel version do you work with?
I work across current and recent Laravel versions, and I can also maintain and gradually upgrade older Laravel 8/9 applications to a supported version without a risky one-shot rewrite.
Is the initial minor bug review and fix truly free of charge?
Yes. Your first minor issue — a broken form, a failing queue job, a validation error — is reviewed and fixed free of charge. It's the easiest way for you to judge the quality of my work before paying anything.
Do you build custom admin panels and dashboards in Laravel?
Yes. I build these using Filament or Laravel Livewire for a fast, modern admin experience, or a fully custom Blade/Vue interface when the workflow is unusual enough that a package-based admin panel doesn't fit.
Do you build REST APIs and mobile app backends using Laravel?
Yes. I build authenticated REST APIs using Laravel Sanctum or Passport, with proper request validation, rate limiting, and API resource formatting, used to power mobile apps, third-party integrations, and headless frontends.
Do you set up Indian payment gateways and third-party integrations in Laravel?
Yes. I regularly set up Razorpay and PayU for payments, Shiprocket for shipping, and WhatsApp order notifications through the Meta Cloud API, all wired into custom Laravel controllers, jobs, and event listeners.
Can you build a SaaS or multi-tenant application in Laravel?
Yes. I build subscription-based SaaS applications with tenant isolation, Laravel Cashier for billing, role and permission management, and queued background jobs so heavy work doesn't block the user-facing request.
How do you handle security on a Laravel application?
I keep Laravel's built-in CSRF protection and validation rules properly configured, use Eloquent's query bindings to prevent SQL injection, store secrets in environment variables outside version control, and add rate limiting and proper authentication guards on sensitive routes.
Will a migration or redesign affect my Google rankings?
It shouldn't, if done properly. I map your existing URLs, set up 301 redirects for anything that changes, and keep your metadata intact so your search visibility carries over.
Do you back up my application before making changes?
Always. I take a full backup of your files and a database export before touching production code, so anything can be rolled back immediately if something goes wrong.
Do you use version control like GitHub?
Yes. I keep a clean history of every feature, migration, and change I make, so you have visibility into exactly what was modified and when.
